Pre-Care for Laser Tattoo Removal

To help your skin respond safely and effectively to laser tattoo removal, please follow these pre-care guidelines before your appointment.

☀️
Avoid Sun & Tanning
Keep the area out of the sun and avoid tanning beds or self-tanner for at least 2 weeks before your session. Sunburned or freshly tanned skin cannot be treated.
🧴
No Irritating Products
For 3–5 days before treatment, avoid retinoids, acids, exfoliants or any harsh products on the area. Keep the skin hydrated with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer.
🪒
Shave the Area if Needed
If the area has hair, gently shave 24 hours before your appointment. Do not wax, thread or use depilatory creams on the area.
🚿
Arrive with Clean Skin
Come with clean, dry skin on the treatment area—no makeup, lotion, oils, perfume or deodorant. This helps the laser work more evenly and safely.
💧
Hydrate & Eat Light
Drink plenty of water and have a light meal or snack before your appointment. Being hydrated and having something in your system can improve comfort.
🩺
Health & Medications
Let us know about any medications, medical conditions, or history of keloids or scarring. If you are unsure about a medication or health concern, please consult your healthcare provider first.

These guidelines support a smoother treatment, but they do not replace medical advice. Always follow the specific instructions given to you during your consultation.

Laser Tattoo Removal FAQ

Have questions about laser tattoo removal? Here are the most common questions our clients ask before beginning their removal or fading journey.

How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on the tattoo’s size, color, depth, location and age, as well as your skin type and how your body responds. Most people need 4–10 sessions for significant fading or full removal. During your consultation, we’ll give you a more personalized estimate.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. The treatments are very quick, and we use cooling and comfort measures to help minimize discomfort. Sensitivity varies from person to person and by body area.
How far apart are the sessions?
Sessions are typically spaced 6–8 weeks apart. Your skin needs time to heal and your body needs time to break down and flush away the ink particles between treatments. Coming too often does not speed up results and can irritate the skin.
Will laser tattoo removal leave a scar?
When performed properly on healthy skin and with proper aftercare, laser tattoo removal has a low risk of scarring. Any pre-existing scarring from the original tattoo may remain. We will always assess your skin, review your history, and give you realistic expectations before starting.
Can all tattoo colors be removed?
Darker inks (black, deep blue) usually respond best and fade the fastest. Some lighter or bright colors can be more stubborn and may require more sessions, or may only partially fade. During your consultation, we will evaluate your tattoo and discuss what is realistically possible.
Am I a good candidate for laser tattoo removal?
Many people are good candidates, but we do not treat areas with active infections, open wounds, or recent sunburns. Certain medical conditions, medications, or pregnancy may require postponing treatment. We’ll review your health history and skin condition to ensure this service is safe for you.
What does the healing process look like?
After treatment, the area may feel warm, look red, or slightly swollen—similar to a mild sunburn. Some clients experience temporary whitening of the skin, light blistering or scabbing. Proper aftercare (keeping the area clean, protected and moisturized) is essential for best results.
Can I get a new tattoo over the area after removal?
Yes, many clients choose to fade or remove a tattoo to make room for a new design. You’ll need to allow the skin to fully heal before getting new ink. Your artist will advise you on the ideal waiting time based on how your skin is healing.

Tiny Tattoo Aftercare

Proper aftercare ensures crisp, clean healing and long-lasting results. Follow these instructions carefully to protect your new tattoo.

🎀
Keep It Wrapped
Leave your tattoo wrapped for 2–3 hours. This protects the fresh tattoo from bacteria and irritation.
🫧
Wash Gently
Clean the area with fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water. Pat dry—never rub.
💧
Apply Ointment
Apply a thin layer of a recommended ointment. Use only enough to lightly moisturize.
☀️
Avoid Sun & Pools
Keep the tattoo out of the sun and avoid pools, oceans, saunas, and hot tubs for at least 2 weeks.
🚫
Do Not Pick
Peeling and flaking is normal. Do not pick or scratch—this can cause fading or scarring.

Healing takes 2–4 weeks. Follow these steps consistently for best results.
